Winning streak comes to an end

Transylvania Cricket Club’s run of successive victories came to an end on Saturday after a 80-run defeat at the hands of the Bucharest Cricket Club.

Although the TCC only lost four wickets during their innings, and despite a quick-fire half-century from James Kodor, the Impalers never quite managed to catch up with the rate after putting the BCC into bat first at the Berceni Reserve. Both the BCC openers posted half-centuries to set a daunting 216/2 target for the TCC batsmen, one which ultimately proved too much with the home side falling short by 80 runs.

TCC’s Winning Ways Continue!

In the second double-header of the summer season on Sunday, the TCC posted two convincing victories against visiting Bulgarian team, the Gabrovo Blacksmiths. Yogish Agarwal was once again the star batsman with an undefeated half-century in the second match, supported at the other end by back-to-form skipper Andrew Begg’s 38.

Begg chose to bat first in the second of the two matches and quick-scoring batting performance from the TCC top order saw a total of 174 reached from the 20 overs. The visitors, remarkably a team of eleven Bulgarian players all reasonably new to the game, batted bravely with several of their number getting well set at the crease. Ultimately, however, they failed to keep up with the rate and fell short of victory by 58 runs, thanks in no small part to some very accurate bowling from the TCC’s Sanjay Kanth, who ended up with figures of 5 for 27.

scorecard 1 scorecard 2 report
Game 1: Blacksmiths 76 ao (20), TCC 77/1 (10.3/20): TCC won by 9 wkts
Game 2: TCC 174/4, Blacksmiths 116 ao (19.2/20): TCC won by 58 runs

Double header, double victory

The TCC emerged victorious in both of Saturday’s matches against an understrength Seale Hayne Agricultural College side.

The two matches took place at the much improved Berceni Reserve ground, which proved to be a lot livelier than in previous weeks providing some bounce and turn for the bowlers. However, this didn’t stop TCC’s Yogish Agawal putting together a tidy half-century in the first match to set a total that ultimately proved unbeatable.

scorecard 1 scorecard 2 report
Game 1: TCC 153/4, SHXI 136/8 TCC won by 17 runs
Game 2: TCC 128/5, SHXI 108 (17.3/20) TCC won by 20 runs
